Katherine "Kay" Edmundson Jones, 81, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025 at Atrium Cabarrus in Concord, NC.

Born in Wayne County, NC she was the widow of William "Bo" Smith Jones and the daughter of the late John "Ed" and Mary Elizabeth Rowe Edmundson. She was a member of Antioch Freewill Baptist Church in Wayne County and was the director of nursing at Cleveland Community College. She received her RN degree from Rex Nursing School in Raleigh, her BSN from Wesleyan College, and her MSN from East Carolina University.

Kay is survived by her nephews, John Russell Taylor (Desiré) and his children, Isabella and William, and Charles Robert Taylor Jr.; her stepsons, Wendall Jones and Mark Jones (Betsy); her step-daughter, Regina Pitman (Curt); six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Kay was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy E. Taylor, and her brother-in-law, Charles R. Taylor Sr.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at 11:00 am at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby, NC with Mr. Jack Waters officiating.
