Bessemer City - Mrs. Kathleen Carpenter Burgess of St. Mark's Church Road
passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her home.

Born in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Barney Carpenter and
Gettie Upton Carpenter. Kathleen was retired from Lincoln County Hospital
as a receptionist. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jake
Burgess; sisters, Margie Beam and Pat Carpenter and brothers, Robert
Carpenter and John Carpenter.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Wright and husband, Jerry of Bessemer
City; two sons, Mike Burgess and wife, Renee of Cherryville and Joel Burgess
and wife, Tonya of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Deanna Walker, Brandon
Wright and wife, Leslie, Masyn Burgess, Kaitlyn Burgess and Luke Morgan;
four great-grandchildren, Kayla Walker, Jake Walker, Carson Wright and
Briley Wright; great-great grandchild, Sawyer Schronce; brother, Ben
Carpenter and wife, Pat; three sisters-in-law, Nadine Campbell, Pauline
Burgess and Merle Carpenter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center
following the service.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church
with Rev. Dale Hendricks officiating.

Burial will be in the City Memorial Cemetery, Cherryville.
