| Kathleen Summitt Herndon, age 90, resident of Kings Mountain, NC passed away February 6, 2014 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mtn. NC. She was born in Cherokee Co, SC to the late Dewey H. Bookout, Sr. and Nellie Byars Bookout. Kathleen was also preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. Summitt, second husband, Lamar Herndon, her son, Scott Summitt, brother, Dewey Bookout, Jr., and sisters, Hilda Heavner and Billie Thornburg. She was a member of David Baptist Church and attended El Bethel United Methodist Church. She was retired from Kinmont Mills. She loved gardening, cooking, shopping, and traveling. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed playing games with her family.

3 Grandchildren: Beth Wilson, Todd Wilson and wife Stephanie, Erin Summitt and fiancé Chris Jolly.
2 Great Grandchildren: Jack and Parker Wilson.

FUNERAL SERVICE: El Bethel United Methodist Church, Saturday, February 8, 2014 3:00 P.M. Rev. Tom Jolly and Rev. James Lochridge, officiating.
VISITATION: 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2014 prior to the service in the fellowship hall of El Bethel United Methodist Church.
INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
