SHELBY - Kathryn McMurry Porter, 99, died Mon., Feb. 15, 2016, at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ella Belch McMurry. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1934, was employed at M&J Finance Corp, later retiring in 1955, and joined Central United Methodist Church in 1956.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Porter Jr.; sisters, Lois Burleson, Margaret Manous Long, Louise Branton, Frances Brooks, Virginia Wolfe; and brother, C.C. McMurry Jr.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her son, Scott Porter and wife Beth of Shelby; daughter, Patty Taylor and husband Jeff of Maryland; grandchildren, Shelby Cross and husband Sam, Zach Taylor and wife Haley, Alex and MacKenzie Taylor, Hayden and Natalie Porter, and Noah Taylor; and nieces and nephews

MEMORIAL SERVICES: A memorial service will be held 2pm, Saturday, Mar. 19, 2016, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

VISITATION: The family will receive friends following the service, at the funeral home

BURIAL: A private family burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park
