Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven TONY Awards, including Best Musical. The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it." Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, fast dance numbers, and astonishing stagecraft.
The Kings Mountain Little Theatre is proud to announce auditions for the full stage production of Mary Poppins. Seeking actors and musicians of all ages and skill sets. Be prepared to do a cold read, perform a song of directors choice, and learn a short dance routine. Musicians may bring instrument and a prepared piece. Betsy Wells, a veteran of theater in the Kings Mountain community, will be directing the musical. Libby Putnam is music director, and Kimberla Burrows is choreographer. Each carrying degrees in their specialty, as well as huge credits to their name.
Auditions will be held Wednesday January 7th, 7:00-9:00 pm, Saturday January 10th, 10:00-12:00, and Sunday January 11th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Joy Performance Center, 202 S. Railroad Ave. Kings Mountain, NC 28086. For further information visit www.kmlt.org or call us at 704-730-9408.
