Larry Dean Brooks, age 58 died Wednesday January 22, 2014 at his home. Born on October 18, 1955 in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Lonnie and Edna Annell Wright Brooks. Larry was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He worked at DM&E for over 25 years. Larry was a social person who made friends wherever he went and always did for others. He enjoyed grilling out and cruising in his special Nova.

Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Hall Brooks; a son, Jamie Hall of Shelby; a sister, Linda Brooks Moore and husband Dannie of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Larry Hall and wife Donna of Hickory; an aunt, Mary Barnett of Shelby; four grandchildren, Elaine Hall, Cameron Hall, Jayda Hall, and Abby Hall; two nephews, Lucas Walker and Chris Hamrick and several other nieces and nephews; special friends and co-workers; and his loving faithful companion, “Lucy”.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 12:00pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, from 11:00am until 12:00pm in the sanctuary.
