Lawrence "Reid" Hamrick, 59, of 1321 Lewis Farm Rd, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Cleveland County, NC, December 26, 1951 to the late Leon Hamrick and the late Marie Elizabeth Guyton Hamrick.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Vietnam and was also in the National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 243 in Bessemer City. He loved outdoor activities including gardening and enjoyed tinkering on small engines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Hamrick.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-eight years, Sylvia Hamrick of the home; son, Lawrence Reid "Rocky" Hamrick II of Kings Mountain; daughters, Jodie Hamrick Walker and husband, Kenny of Bessemer City, Yvette W. Moten and husband, Craig of Kings Mountain; brothers, James "Hambone" Hamrick and wife, Diane, Keeter Hamrick and wife, Pat, John Wayne Hamrick and wife, Sherry, Ronnie Hamrick and wife, Wilma all of Kings Mountain; sisters, Anarah "Toonie" Deviney and husband,Tommy also of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Clint Brown, Maggie and Dalton Walker, Megan Hamrick and Bianca and Kiera Moten.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel in Gastonia.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. James Hamrick.
Interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain with military honors by the U. S. Miltiary Honor Guard and American Legion Post 243.
