Leona Mae Wilson Weaver

SHELBY - Leona Mae Wilson Weaver, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She is predeceased by her father, Leo Wilson; mother, Fannie Williams Wilson Kipp and step-father, Thomas Kipp; brothers, Charles and Bobby Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Weaver of the home; three children, Steve, Kevin and Todd Weaver; five granddaughters, Heather Rayfield, Hayle Scruggs (David), Chelsea Weaver, Savanah Weaver and Chesley Hildebran; two grandsons, Caleb and Tyler Weaver; one great-granddaughter, Madilyne Scruggs; four-great-grandsons, Zack Rayfield, Derek Scruggs, Luke Rayfield and Dylan Scruggs; three sisters, Jean Enloe, Mary Kipp and Shirley Wilson (Roy McCormick).

Leona was born In Jackson County on September 15, 1938. She attended Webster High School and Brevard College. She took great pride in her family, loved to cook, enjoyed watching Duke Basketball and always put others before herself. She will truly be missed by many.

A 3:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Ross Grove Baptist Church, Shelby with Dr. Paul Sorrells officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
