Mr. Leonard Douglas Bridges, 72, of Bessemer City, passed away July 11, 2016 at Peak Resources in Gastonia.
He is survived by a son, Leonard "Steve" Bridges and wife Candy of Bessemer City; daughter, Tammy Short and fiancé Dewey Welch of Newton, NC; grandchildren, Jonathan Busler, Tyler Bridges, and Kelsey Short.
Born September 28, 1943 in Cleveland County, Mr. Bridges was the son of the late J.T. Bridges and Gladys Cogdell Morgan and was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Tempie Mae Tate Bridges, a son, Dinnis Bridges, and a brother, James Allen Bridges.
Mr. Bridges was retired from Goodwill Industries. He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Cleveland Funeral Services. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel conducted by Rev. Forrest Hennessee. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, July 15, 2016 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
