Mr. Leslie Owen Scoggin, age 70 of Spindale, NC went to be with The Lord on Friday October 27, 2017 while being cared for at The Charles George Veterans Medical Center in Asheville, NC.

A native of Rutherford County, Leslie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, was a member of Spencer Baptist Church and was retired from Mastercraft. Leslie had a love for education and was a lifelong student, receiving various degrees including a degree in Marine Biology from Berea College in Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hullan Paul Scoggin and Mattie Lee Barnes Scoggin and one brother Hullan Howard Scoggin.

He is survived by one brother Guy Scoggin and wife Ruby of West Columbia, SC; one nephew Tony Scoggin and wife Susan and their children Tyler, Nikki, Adrian, and Madeline; one niece Christy Scoggin and her children Amber Gunn and Nick Gunn, special friends Wayne and Candy Ruppe, Dan and Iris McGuinn. Leslie also leaves to cherish his memory a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday October 30, 2017 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, 118 US Hwy 74A Rutherfordton, NC 28139. Interment will be in the Spindale City Cemetery with military honors provided by The Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
