Lester Sidney "Sid" Willis, age 66, of Garver Street, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Atrium Health of Shelby. He was born November 9, 1952 in Gaston County to the late Robert and Beulah Peeler Willis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John D. Willis.

He is survived by his son, Robert "Cooter" Willis of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Christie and Paul McNeilly of Polkville; grandchildren, Ashland Taylor Willis, Jonathan Rod Willis, Joshua Reed Parker, and Jada Jane Messer; three great-grandchildren; nephew, John D. Willis, Jr. and wife, Susan; great-nephew, Christopher Lance Willis; and the mother of his children, Rachel Workman Smith.

Sid was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed being out in nature, walking, piddling around the yard, and feeding the squirrels. He was known for always cutting up and picking on people. Sid loved to laugh, make others laugh, and spend time with his family.

According to Sid's wishes, his body was donated to science and the family will hold private services at a later date.
