Lewis D. Telle, M.D.

Lewis D. Telle, M.D.  age 96, passed away on December 25, 2014 at Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby. Born on November 22, 1918 in Chicago Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois and the University of Illinois Medical School. Following residencies in both General Surgery and Pathology, he joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He retired from Private Practice in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Telle was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and spent many hours volunteering at the Shelby Senior Center. Dr. Telle is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard F. Shimer.

Dr. Telle married Nancy Bearden on December 7, 1946. She currently resides at Carillon Assisted Living. He is also survived by a daughter, Linda Shimer; a son, Donald Telle, Jr. and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Hannah Telle and Lewis Telle III, and step grandchildren, Daniel and Andrew Shimer.

 

The family will have a private memorial service.
