Lillian Hester Mellon Owens, 87 of 338 Vic Randall Road, Lawndale, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Carolinas HealthCare System - Cleveland in Shelby.

Born October 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William Richard Mellon and Fannie Ann Net Dixon Mellon. Mrs. Owens was retired from Doran Yarn and was a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Owens.

Survivors include a son, David Ronnie Owens and wife, Kathy of Casar; three daughters, Lillian Sue Hudson, Cathy Elaine Dotson and husband, John and Pamela Jean Childers and husband, Eddie all of Lawndale; thirteen grandchildren, Melissa Shook, Chad Hudson, Jamie Hudson, Wendy and Dwayne Dawson, Bo Childers, Jerry and Vickie Owens, Chuck and Susan Owens, Willie and Stacey Dotson, Hollie Owens, Becky and Billy Whisnant, Marc Parris and Michael Owens; numerous great-grandchildren and a sister, Willie Mae Camp of Kings Mountain.

Visitation will be 2:00PM until 3:00PM Monday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

A funeral service will be 3:00PM Monday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Hudson officiating.

Burial will follow Wallace Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
