Lillie Mae Jones
Lillie Mae Jones, 83, of Green Acres Road, Cliffside, died on Monday, June 16, 2014 at her residence. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on September 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Worth and Cora Bradley Lane. She was retired from Cone Mills Corporation - Cliffside Plant. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Cliffside. Lillie worked with Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child and was the coordinator for Rutherford County. She also went on mission trips around the U.S. and overseas. Lillie was also retired from the Cliffside Volunteer Fire Department and the Rutherford County Rescue. She was one of the first female EMT drivers in North Carolina. She was also a member of the Cliffside Order of the Eastern Star chapter 100 and was a past Worthy Matron. Mrs. Jones was also a recipient of the Caring for Carolina Award and loved to travel.
 
She is survived by her husband, Herman Jones; one son, Michael Jones and wife Sherry of Charlotte; two daughters, Kay Rhodes and husband Eric of Rutherfordton and Diane Pye and husband Russell of Forest City; one brother, Charles Lane of Rutherfordton; two sister, Sue Lane of Rutherfordton, Ann Hamby of Statesville; her grandchildren, James and Joeli Splawn, Alicia and Mark Revels, John and Allison Splawn, Jeremy and Zant Parker, Megan Jones, Dexter Bridges, Joe Splawn, and Erin Jones; her great grandchildren, Zach Splawn, Liz Splawn, Adam Splawn, McKiah Splawn, Callan Splawn, Colton Revels.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Frashier and Rev. Ernie Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00pm-9:00pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at McKinney-Landreth and Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
