Linda Jane Wallace Merritt, age 69, died Monday, June 27, 2016 at her home. Born in Mecklenburg County on November 27, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James Rufus and Mary Douglass Eubanks Wallace. Linda was a caseworker for a number of years for the Cleveland and Gaston Department of Social Services. She enjoyed going to the beach.

Linda is survived by two sons, Doug Merritt and wife Ashley of Lowell and Tripp Merritt of PA.; a daughter, Laney Triplett and husband Matt of Shelby; a sister, Judy Weerstra and husband Cecil of Hilton Head; eight grandchildren, Tyler Triplett, Ethan Triplett, Spencer Triplett, Lilly Triplett, Cooper Merritt, Sydney Merritt, Ellie Merritt, and Lizzie Merritt; and her beloved canine companion, " Mac".

The family will have a service at a later date.
