Linda Moore Dixon

Linda Moore Dixon, age 71, a resident of 407 Phifer Road, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cleveland Co., NC, daughter of the late John Frank and Rachel Roberts Moore and also preceded in death by step-mother, Margaret Short Moore. She graduated from Bethware High School, the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and completed her master’s degree at UNCG and her 6th year degree at Applachian State University. Mrs. Dixon taught school in Kings Mountain, Gaston and Lincoln County, completing her career as assistant principal at Northbrook Elementary School in Vale, NC. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain serving on numerous committees and was a  Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was  a member of the Kings Mountain Woman’s Club, serving as  president several terms and heading up many of its projects. She also was the District 3 Woman’s Clubs president as well as chairman of numerous State Committees. Linda was a volunteer  and served on the Board of Directors for the Kings Mountain Historical Museum. She was also a member of Kings Mountain Study Club serving as its president on several occasions. Mrs. Dixon was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and Delta Tau Chapter. Other organizations that Mrs. Dixon was a member of include The Book Club, P.E.O. and Cleveland County Retired Teachers..Linda was a loving person who loved children, a loving wife, mother and “ nana”.

SURVIVORS:  Husband of 49 years : Donald “Don” Dixon, Kings Mountain; Son: D. Keith Dixon, II, and wife Kim, Kings Mountain; Sisters: Carolyn Parsley and husband Richard, Kings Mountain;  Sandra Bumgarner and husband Col. Mike Bumgarner, Amarillo, Texas; Grandson: Ryan Alexander Dixon, Kings Mountain         

FUNERAL SERVICE: First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, Wednesday,July 10, 2013 2:00P.M. Dr.John Sloan. officiating

VISITATION:  12:30- 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, prior to the service in  the Stained Glass room at  First Baptist Church.

INTERMENT: Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain,
