Linda Thompson Chandler, age 63 died Friday October 30, 2015 at Carolinas Healthcare-Cleveland. Born in Lee County on July 17,1952 she was the daughter of Eugenia Bradley Thompson of Sanford and the late Zack George Thompson. Linda was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and volunteered for Grace Emmaus. Linda was an instructor in Psychology at Cleveland Community College. She was an educator for 39 years and previously served as guidance counselor for Cumberland County Schools, Mississippi County Community College in Arkansas, Cleveland County Schools including Shelby High School and Mitchell Community College. Linda was also a member of the North Carolina Community College Sociology and Psychology Association (NCCCSPA) She served this volunteer organization as Regional Representative and Board member and in multiple capacities for more than 10 years. She was recognized for this service at the Fall 2014 conference. Linda enjoyed knitting and doing crafts in her spare time. In addition to her father, Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gary L. Chandler.

In addition to her mother, Linda is survived by her son, Alex Garison Chandler of Wilmington;; aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday 11:00 am November 4, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St, Shelby,NC 28150 with Dr. John Boggs and Dr. Bill Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall
