Lindell “West Virginia” Stone, age 59, of Bostic, NC, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Rutherford County, NC.

     Lindell was born on September 22, 1951 in McDowell County, WV to the late George Stone and Ruth Lusk Stone.  He had worked in the coal mines, construction and in road maintenance. He loved trading items and was known for his giving heart. He was a Baptist.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Stone and Carmel “Mick” Stone and one sister, Francis “Jean” Morgan.

     Survivors include his wife, Wanda Stone of Rutherfordton; one daughter, Patricia Cureton and husband, Carlos of Bostic; one son, Michael Sammons and wife, Vickie of Gilbert, WV; five brothers, Windell “Bobby” Stone, Jimmy Stone both of Fredericksburg, VA; Calvin “Mike” Stone of Stafford, VA; Dwayne Stone of Dillwin, VA, Pete Stone of Point Pleasant, WV and one sister, Judith Echard of Brenton, WV.  He is also survived by one granddaughter, Cierra Stone; four grandsons, Desmond Stone, Carlos Cureton, Jr., Chuck Cureton, Cory Sammons and Zachary Sammons.

      A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Jesus Way Christian Ministries. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
