Lloyd Gilbert Murray age 80, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. Born in Rutherfordton County on January 14, 1934, he was the son of the late George Washington and Georgia Holland Murray. He retired as a fixer from Doran Textile. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid racing fan. Lloyd also loved to fish and hunt. He served in the National Guard. Also preceded in death are two sisters Alma Long and Irene Segers; one brother Samuel Murray.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lola Ball Murray; five sons, Gilbert Murray and wife Barbara of Grover, NC, Tommy Murray and companion Vanessa, Jerry Murray and wife Debbie, Wade Murray and wife Rita, and Danny Murray and wife Sonja, all of Shelby, NC; three daughters, Brenda Nestlerode and husband Raymond, Anna Murray of home, and Lora Faye Harding and husband David all of Grover, NC.; one brother, Clifford Murray of Rutherfordton, NC; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 12:30 pm at the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Steve Waters, Pastor Michael Daughtry, and Jerry Murray officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:30 to 12:30. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with Military Honors.
