Lorene Shull Beam, age 91, formerly of Requa Rd, died Friday, January 31, 2014 at Carolina Care Center. She was born on February 23, 1922 in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late John Cliffton and Jane Marie Peeler Shull. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 54 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Lawrence Lee Beam; and eight brothers, Caldwell, JD, Vernon, Warren, John Jr., Ralph, Pete, and Jerry Shull.
Survivors include her children, Polly Beam Barrett (Robert) of Homestead Fl, Jerry Lee Beam (Geraldine) of Kings Mountain, and Mary Jane “Janie” Eaker (Wayne) of Cherryville; special friend, Joyce Rhyne; grandchildren, Barbara Barrett Rubens (Gary), Rodney Beam (Karen), and Rhonda Beam (Craig); great-grandchildren, Helena Krotenberg, Alexander Beam, Jesse Beam, Ethan Beam, Allan Beam, and Harrison Beam; great-great-grandson, Seth Aaron Krotenberg; sister, Betty Williams (Bud); brother, Bill Shull (Dot); sister-in-law, Beulah Reynolds; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Roy Byers officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
