Lottie Bell Hawkins Padgett, 95, of 304 Poplar Springs Church Rd. went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2015. She was surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Many knew her as "Bmama."

Lottie was a lady, devoted to church and family and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was known for her beauty and class, and her hospitable kindness toward others. Lottie was fun to be around.

She was an active member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church for over seventy years. She influenced many through her teaching in Sunday School. She was a member of the JOY Group, Monday Morning Bible Study Group, and when she was able, was there every time the doors were open. Lottie and Olan also took great pride in their work as custodians of the church back in the 1990s.

Before retiring, Lottie worked as a cloth inspector at Dover Mills for many years. Afterwards, she began quilting and growing roses to show. She had a knack for making things beautiful.

Lottie was the daughter of the late Louis Hawkins and Zera Bridges Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Olan Padgett, and three brothers, Hal Hawkins, Hyatt Hawkins, and Drew Hawkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Padgett Latham and husband, Tommy of Shelby, and her granddaughters, Allison Qualls and husband, Alan of Shelby, and Jodie Stowe and husband, Marc of Polkville, NC, and her great-grandchildren Charlie Qualls, Laney Qualls, and Caroline Stowe, and a sister-in-law, Helen Hawkins of Boiling Springs.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 123 Beaver Dam Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152, officiated by Rev. Tim Hardin, Rev. Phil Hughes, Dr. Paul Sorrells, and Dr. Robert Canoy with the graveside service to follow. The family will receive friends at a memorial reception following these services in the Sorrells Fellowship Hall.
