Lowell Thomas Gantt, 88, passed away at Novant of Brunswick County on November 4, 2021.

He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late John Tyra and Maude Canipe Gantt. He was retired for the US Air Force after serving 21 years and later for the Salisbury Veteran's Administration. He attended Gospel Center Baptist Church and associated with Tunnels to Towers, Wounded Warriors, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Shriner's Hospital and the VFW. He was a member of Shallotte Masonic Lodge 0727 A.F.&A.M. and the Oasis Shrine Club.

He is survived by his children Jerry Gantt and wife Tina, Sharon Mitchell and husband Ronnie, Dianne Colliins and Lisa Harris and husband Carlton, all of Shelby, brothers Steve Gantt and wife Joanne and Hal Gantt, sisters Rachel Kilpatrick, Grandchildren Nikki, Nick, Cayce, Cale, Thomas, Miranda, Chris, Robin, Alexis, Matthew, Mackenzie, Lindsey and Stevin, 22 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren and former wife Barbara Gantt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Benny and Johnny Gantt, sisters Carol Pheagin, Audrey McNeely and Joanne Correll.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday November 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 PM. Rev. Tim Pheagin will officiate. Full Military Honors will be provided by the US Air Force.
