Lucille Scoggins Hutchins, age 83, of Hilton Place, Forest City, NC, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Lucille was born May 21, 1933 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Samuel Jefferson Scoggins and Mary Lizzy Strickland. She was a member of Cliffside Missionary Methodist Church. Mrs. Hutchins was a multi-talented woman who could do anything she set her mind to. She was a hard worker who enjoyed being a caregiver for the elderly in her later years. She loved her flowers and O'Charley's ribs and was the best little mama in the world.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carace "Doc" Hutchins and fifteen siblings.
Survivors include her three sons, Carace Lance Hutchins, Steve Hutchins and wife, Cheryl, Mark Hutchins and wife, Myra Hutchins all of Forest City; two daughters, Freida Cosgriff and husband, James of Dearborn, Michigan and Kathy Bright of Forest City; one brother, Grover "Sonny" Scoggins; and three sisters, Lucy Melton, Wanda Lane and Vivian Payne. She is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Terry White officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Hutchins will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 until service time.
