M SGT. William S. Nolen, Jr.

M SGT. William S. Nolen, Jr., 77, passed away on Sunday April 19, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice. He was from Belmont but always called Mt. Holly home. He worked all his life up to the age of 77, when he developed lung cancer which ended his life. He went into the United States Army at age 16 where he became a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He served his country with pride for 22 years and retired in 1976 as a Master Sergeant E-8. He had several companies after his retirement, but the one he was most proud of was Norfolk/Southern Railroad, he had 13 great years delivering parts all over the east coast.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, William and Vernie Cloninger Nolen, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Glenda and Dorothy.

SURVIVED: He is survived by a loving and caring wife of 39 years, Peggy Booth Nolen in whom he adored and loved being married too; one daughter, Amanda Burgess and husband Shane, one grandson, Christopher Nolen and one granddaughter, Vallie Ann Dazis.

SERVICES: Services were private.
