Mableen "Mae" Self Cabaniss, 86, died Saturday January 10, 2015 at Wendover Hospice House. Born in Cleveland County on December 4, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Nelson G. and Docia May Wright Self, and Step-Mother Florence E. Self. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Lib Holloman Sunday School Class. She was past president of UDC (United Daughters of the Confederacy) Cleveland Guards Chapter 443 from 1990-1998, was an avid reader, and loved genealogical research and her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joe Turner Cabaniss Jr., three brothers, J.B. Self Sr., Coleman F. Self, and Buford Lee Self Sr., two sisters, Louise Self Norman and her twin sister Kathleen "Kat" Wolfe, and a granddaughter Emily Merrell.

Mrs. Cabaniss is survived by one son, Chris Cabaniss and his wife Ann of Waxhaw;  three daughters, Kathi Cabaniss of Lyman S.C., Conni Willis and her husband Dale of Shelby, Crystal Weathers and her husband Wayne of Spartanburg S.C., nine grandchildren Nicholas Cabaniss, Chase Cabaniss and his fiancée Grace Betz, Colton Cabaniss, Mark Merrell and his wife Ashley of Greer S.C., Julie Lucas and her husband John of Mooresville. Jacob Willis, Jennifer Willis, David Weathers, Andrew Weathers and his wife Lindsay, and one great grandchild Madelynn Merrell, and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to her many caregivers from Carillon Assisted Living, White Oak Manor, Wendover Hospice House of Shelby, NC and all the sitters from Helping Hands.

Funeral service will be held on Monday January 12, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Tench officiating. . Burial will follow at Zion Baptist Church

The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00pm until 2:00 pm in the ladies parlor, and other times the family will be at their perspective homes.
