Madge Elizabeth Hastings Walker
Madge Elizabeth Hastings Walker, 89, of Bethany Church Road, formerly of Ellenboro, died on Friday, May 29, 2014 at Forest City Health and Rehab (formerly Autumn Care Nursing Center). A native of Gaston County, NC, she as born on June 02, 1924, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lula Murray Hastings. She was retired from Don Caster Tanner Company with 51 years of service. A beautiful bronze picture monument was placed on company property in honor of her years of service. Madge loved her job, but was known by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, The Cliffside Easter Star Chapter 100, past member of the Amaranth Diamond Court #21 in Spindale and past Matron. She also loved to travel and do crafts.
 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Wilson Walker. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Padgett and husband Larry of Ellenboro; one brother, Kenneth Hasting of and wife Jean of Waxhaw, NC; one granddaughter, Laura Padgett of Somerville, MA.
 
A Celebration of Mrs. Walker’s Life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, June 01, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Sepaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-3:00pm on Sunday, June 01, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church.
