Madge M. Keeter
Madge M. Keeter, 83, of 489 Casar-Lawndale Road, passed away
Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at home, after a long illness.  Born in Shelby on
March 29, 1931, she was the daughter of Coleman D. Mauney and Lucy D.
Mauney.  Madge Keeter is survived by two sons, Robert B. Keeter III and
wife, Mary L. Keeter both of Hampstead, NC, and Coleman M. Keeter of
Concord, NC.  She has one grandson, Capt. Jason R. Keeter, of the 101st
Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY with his wife Samantha Keeter and two
great-grandchildren, Ella Jane and Sawyer Isaiah Keeter.  She has one
granddaughter, Miss Megan C. Keeter of Fayetteville, NC.  She was also
survived by many nieces and nephews.   Madge was preceded by her husband,
Mr. Robert B. Keeter, Jr.

Madge was a lifelong resident of Cleveland County.  She enjoyed traveling
with her friends and her husband in their campers across the country several
times to visit family and friends.  Madge enjoyed reading and was a lifelong
member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church, where she served as the
volunteer choir director for over thirty years.  In recent years, she was an
active volunteer at Cleveland Regional Medical Center with over 300 hours of
service.  While at the medical center, Madge worked at the ICU reception
desk providing compassion, care and sympathy to the families.  

She enjoyed playing competitive basketball in her youth and was the Queen of
the Valdese, NC Basketball Tournament in 1947.  Madge was a graduate of
Belwood High School in 1948 and of the National Business College of Shelby,
NC in 1949.  In her working career, she started as a payroll clerk at
Cleveland Mills, in Lawndale.  By the time she retired in 1991, she was the
Head of the Computer Department for PPG Industries where she oversaw and
implemented many of the computer innovations of the time.  She was a member
of the Eastern Star, of the Camp Call Lodge.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday November 3 from 6:30 to 8
at Stamey -Tysinger Funeral Home.

Funeral: Tuesday, November 4 at Palm Tree United Methodist Church. The body
will be placed in the church at 12:30 prior to the service at 1 pm.
