Mae Dean Canipe Smith of Fair Haven Home, 149 Fairhaven Dr., Bostic,
formerly of 766 Lowery St., Shelby, NC passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011
at Fair Haven Home.
She was a Native of Rutherford County, the daughter of the late Bert and
Carrie Mae Canipe.
She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. She was formerly employed
by J.P. Stevens, P.P.G., and Artees. She loved her children and
grandchildren dearly and she had a love for gardening and flowers.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Howard
Smith and four brothers, Walter Canipe, John Canipe, Raymond Canipe and
Charles V. Canipe.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn L. Bridges and wife Betty of Ellenboro
and Charles W. Bridges and wife Linda of Polkville; stepson, Don Smith of
Morganton; six grandchildren, David Bridges of Ellenboro, Denise Bridges
Strickland and husband Joey of Ellenboro; Johnny Bridges and wife Melanie of
Polkville, Jamie Bridges and wife Quinne of Polkville, Charlie Bridges and
wife Tracy of Polkville and Glenda Bridges Mitchell and husband Jimmy of
Natchitoches, LA; 12 great-grandchildren, Kari Strickland, Allen Strickland,
Lauren Strickland, Thomas Bridges, Jeb Bridges, Merideth Bridges, Samuel
Bridges, Ila Bridges, Matthew Bridges, Emma Bridges, Brody Mitchell and Cole
Mitchell; and four sisters-in-law, Estelle Canipe of Shelby, Jean Canipe of
Shelby, Helen Canipe of Raleigh and Evelyn Canipe of Ellenboro.
Visitation, 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Sunday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
