| Ms. Mala Whisnant Scott, former dental hygeinist, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Hospice of Wendover in Shelby. She was 62 years old.
Ms. Scott was born on August 23, 1951, in Shelby, NC, to the late Mary B. and Foch Whisnant. She was a Lead Registered Dental Hygeinist and worked with Dr. Claytor for more than 21 years and with Dr. Lutz for several years. She attended Guilford Community College in Greensboro, NC.
Ms. Scott was a resident of the Lawndale area and a member of Polkville United Methodist Church. Mala was an excellent cook. She also loved crocheting, woodworking, canning from the garden, taking trips and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Scott of Lawndale; a sister, Jan Whisnant of Polkville and three grandchildren, LeAnna, Keaton and Allie, all of Lawndale.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, Shelby at 10:00 A.M with Chuck Rinehart officiating.
