Margaret Ellen Beattie McGinnis, 91 of Olde Coach Lane died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Peak Resources in Shelby. She was born on June 17, 1923 in Cleveland County to the late Peter Cleveland and Mary Barrett Beattie. She graduated from Waco High School in 1941. She was a former member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church. Margaret was employed at Carlton Mills and then retired from Sherman Textiles. She enjoyed coloring and was an avid gardener.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ralph "Ginny" Hubert McGinnis; son, Hubert "Hugo" McGinnis; sister, Lonie Wright; and brothers, Amos, Enos, Lemuel, and Leo Beattie.

Survivors include her twin daughters, Martha Martin of Gastonia, and Mary Lindsay of Cherryville; brother, Quintin Beattie of Indiana; grandsons, Kyeth Lindsay and Brian McGinnis; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Dr. Kyeth Lindsay officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
