Margie Harris Riviere

Margie Harris Riviere, 90, of Shelby, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016.

A native of Dallas, NC, she was the daughter of the late Reid Augustus and Leila Costner Harris.

A Registered Nurse, Mrs. Riviere graduated in 1946 from the Shelby Hospital School of Nursing. She joined the Cleveland County Health Department, where she worked for 15 years. She then assumed a role with the Shelby City Schools as the first School Nurse and served the schools for 22 years, until her retirement. A member of Central United Methodist Church since 1946, she was also a member of the Hoey Bible Class

Mrs. Riviere was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Paul Riviere; and siblings, John Harris, Pete Harris and Inez Friday.

Surviving Mrs. Riviere are daughters Michele "Mikki" Riviere Bridges and Chrystal Riviere Blalock and husband Greg; grandchildren, Lauren Bridges, Jackson Blalock and Ally Bruser, Katy Blalock and Ben Griffin, Emma Blalock Budzinski and husband, Patrick, and Haley Chitty; brothers Bobby Harris and wife, Juanita, and Max Harris and wife, Millie; a sister Lena Rabb; special nieces, Pat Riviere Seel and husband, Ed, and Cornelia Pleasants and husband, John; and many other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mrs. Riviere will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Leonard officiating. A reception will be held at the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC 28150 or to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.
