Marie Daves Norman, 70, of Lawndale, went home to be with Jesus Thursday,
July 11, 2013 at Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby.
Born August 19, 1942 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Coy
Clingman Daves and Essie Elizabeth Wiggins Daves. She was retired as a
switchboard operator for Carolina Freight Carriers. Mrs. Norman was a
member of Norman's Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school
teacher and choir member. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time
with them, especially her three grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy
Ray Norman; four brothers, Paul C. Daves, Zane Daves, Floyd F. Daves and
Robert L. Daves; and one sister, Virginia Gantt.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Martin and husband, Dennis of
Fallston and Kim Spurling and husband, Gene of Lawndale; three
grandchildren, Luke and Spencer Martin and Trevor Spurling; brother, Charles
"Bud" M. Daves of Shelby and four sisters, Jewel D. Canipe of Casar, Ann D.
Faggart of Concord, Bell D. Brown and husband, Jim of Charlotte and Gilda D.
Hunt and husband, Steve of Polkville; brother-in-law, Jerald Norman and
wife, Andrea of Casar; sisters-in-law, Mae Daves of Lincolnton and Doris
Stockton of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday at Norman's Grove Baptist Church
Fellowship Hall . At other times the family will be at the home of Karen
and Dennis Martin, 111 Charolais Drive, Fallston.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday at Norman's Grove Baptist Church
Officiating: Her Nephews, Revs. Jeff Faggart and Gene Faggart
Burial: Norman's Grove Baptist Church, Cemetery
