Marie Hardin McDaniel, 83, a resident of White Oak Manor, Shelby, died on Friday, April 11, 2014. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on April 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Samuel and Lola Ferguson Hardin. She was retired from Cone Mills Corporation, Florence Plant. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church; she loved country music and traveling with Toney Tours.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McDaniel; one son, Hugh McDaniel. She is survived by sons, Allen Ray Hardin and wife Barbara of Shelby, Tommy Joe Hardin of Spindale, Sammy Lee Hardin and wife Wendy of Bostic, Robert Alton Hardin of Rutherfordton, and Daniel Roy Hardin of Rutherfordton; her daughters, Billie Faye Lesley and husband David of Easley, SC, and Glenda Dale Carter and husband Rocky of Pickens, SC; 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Mrs. McDaniel's Life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 14 at The A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with The Rev. Scotty Pool and The Rev. Paul Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service and at other times at the home of Allen Hardin, Dellinger Road, Shelby.
