Marilyn Hicks Whisnant, 85, formerly of Lawndale, passed away Tuesday, June
21, 2016 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.

She was born March 6, 1931 in Cleveland County, to the late Austin Frank
Hicks and Ezell Ruth Sain Hicks. She was retired from Kemet in Shelby and
was a hair dresser. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, John
Lee Hicks, Houston Hicks, Frank Hicks, William " Bill" Hicks and one sister,
Millicent Francis.

She is survived by her husband, William " Bud" Bryan Whisnant; son, Bryan
Hicks Whisnant of Atlanta, GA.; daughters, Gloria Lynn Cassady of Shelby and
Robin Whisnant Heath of Shelby; brother and dear sister-in-law, Jake & Peggy
Hicks of Fallston; sister, Jane Greenwood of Fallston; four grandchildren,
Scott Hartman, Tony Hartman, Shane Hartman, Lindy Paxton Burgess; four
great- grandchildren, Ashley Hartman, Kyle Hartman, T.J. Hartman and
Emma-Grace Burgess.

The memorial service will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Stamey- Tysinger
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Brower officiating.

Entombment will follow the service at the Rose Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
