Marlene Dudley Clapper

Marlene Dudley Clapper, age 77, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Wendover Hospice.

Born in Webster, Iowa on May 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harlan

Albert Dudley and Verle Jeanette Graham Lawson. Marlene was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved to sing in the choir at Bible Baptist Church and was camp nurse at Camp Fort Bluff in Tennessee. She worked for over 20 years at Presbyterian Main in Charlotte. Marlene loved to travel, cook, and entertain.

Marlene is survived by her son, David Clapper and wife Julia of Charlotte; two daughters, Tyrene Forsythe of Indian Trail, and Marisa Joseph of San Francisco; a sister, Maxine Deaver and husband Thom of Shelby; a brother, Loren Dudley and wife Mary of Bath; six grandchildren, Aubrey Joseph, Brittany Clapper, Tyler Forsythe, Shane Clapper, Haylie Forsythe, and Austin Clapper; and a great-grandson, Damen Clewis.

Funeral service will be on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist

Church with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the church

cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, from 1:00

pm until 2:00 pm.
