Martha “Gran” Joan Reep Hester Mosteller, age 83 of Alexandria Place, died on January 30, 2014 at her residence. She was born on September 29, 1930 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late Furman Daniel and Lena Slaten Reep. She was a member of Lander’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Martha loved gardening, cooking and being outdoors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Mosteller; her first husband, Joseph Reece Hester; daughter, Rebecca Joan Anderson; grandson, Frank David Hester; and brothers, Kenneth Reep and Furman D. Reep, Jr.
Survivors include her grandson, Jeffrey Scott Hester (Myra) of Bessemer City; great-grandson, Christopher David Hester (Kenna Brown) of Bessemer City; Great Great Granddaughter Madilynn Grace Hester; brother, Joseph Reep of Dallas; and sisters, Sylvia Smith (John) of Mount Holly, Marilyn Friday of Gastonia, and Pat Rieman (Eric) of Mount Holly.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Landers Chapel UMC with Rev. Frank Herman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 3:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
