Marvin “Smokie” Clifford Smith, 84, 5738 Fallston Rd, Lawndale, NC, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

He was born on November 28, 1928, in Burke, NC, to the late Marvin Brittain and Martha Smith Abernathy. He was retired from Century Furniture.     

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Leona Canipe Smith and stepson, Donald Canipe.

He is survived by his son Marvin Smith, Jr. of Lawndale; two stepsons, David Canipe and Bobby Walker both of Lawndale; stepdaughter, Mary Kate Smith of Burke County; two brothers Tom Abernathy and Robert Abernathy both of Catawba County; one sister; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2013, on Stamey Funeral Home Chapel.
