Mary Alice Smith Carpenter, age 77 of Ashley Jordan Lane, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born on May 29, 1937 in Gaston County to the late Fred “Porchie” and Beulah Neal Smith. Alice attended Patterson Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed making jewelry and her greatest passion was working with flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Donald Keith Carpenter; daughters, Allison Jeanene Carpenter, and Cynthia Carpenter Harris; brothers, Jim, Robert, Bill, and Jack Smith; and sisters, Gladys Isenhour, Jeannette Smith, and Ruby Smith.
Survivors include her daughters, Keitha Carpenter Reep and husband, Greg of Kings Mountain and Vanessa Henderson of Forest City; brother, Ford Smith of Cherryville; sister, Vickie Bryan and husband, Roger of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Lisa Anthony, Jennifer Leeper, Keith Harris, and Jordan Reep; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 12:00 PM at Patterson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Hendrick officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services.
