Mary Ann Steyer Greene, 81, of Ellenboro, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton. A native of Garrett County Maryland, she was born on October 23, 1931 to the late Ervin Steyer and Edna Manks Steyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willford Lee "Jack" Greene; one brother, Don Steyer; and one sister, Lois Nogle. She was a seamstress and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellenboro where she was a former nursery worker.
Ms. Greene is survived by her son, Steve Greene and wife Sandra of Ellenboro; by two grandchildren, Christopher Greene and wife Ashley of Ellenboro, and Allyson Greene of Ellenboro, and two great granddaughters, Maddie Greene and Izabella Greene. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at McKinney-Landreth and Carroll Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating the life of Ms. Greene will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Ellenboro at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
