Mary Fortenberry

Mary Fortenberry, 86, of Peak Resources in Shelby, passed away Tuesday,
March 7, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System - Cleveland in Shelby.

Born August 10, 1930 in Cleveland County. She was the daughter of the late
Alvin Cook and Ola Mae Towery. She worked at Universal Manufacturing Company
as a seamstress for many years. She was a member of Hoyle Memorial United
Methodist Church where she was a member of Sally Rollins Sunday School
Class, Adult Choir and United Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Harvey
Franklin Fortenberry; step mother, Mert S. Cook and twelve siblings.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Fortenberry of Lawndale; two daughters,
Beth Blanton and husband Don of Shelby and Jenny Peterson and husband Jimmy
of Shelby; two brothers, Brady Cook and Clyde Cook and wife Dianne both of
Polkville; four sisters, Ethel Fortenberry of Shelby, Ruth Davis of Shelby,
Reba Head of Polkville, Cathrine Crotts and husband Dwight of Casar; six
grandchildren, Stephanie Patterson (Jason) and children Carlie and Laney Jo,
Alice Kale (Brandon) and son Carson, Josh Fortenberry and children Emma and
Stella, Charlie Blanton (Kassidy) and children Carter and Colton, Jada
Stykeleather (TJ) and children Roxy and Cameron and Tyler Peterson; special
friends and caregivers, Tracy Webber and Kelly Goode.

The family would like to thank Dr. Forrest Thompson and staff and the staff
on 4 West at Carolina Healthcare System - Cleveland.

Visitation will be 11:30 PM until 12:30 PM Thursday, March 9 at Stamey -
Tysinger Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 12:30 PM Thursday, March 9 at Stamey - Tysinger
Funeral Home Chapel with Stephanie Patterson officiating.

Memorials may be made to Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church Building
Fund, 1741 Fallston Road, Shelby, NC 28150
