Mrs. Mary Helen Allen Wellmon, 82, of 3703 Amazing Grace Rd., Lawndale, NC, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010. Services were held at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Wellmon was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Clyde and Lula Drewery Allen; 4 sisters, Lucille Wiggins, Margie Hopper, Eva Parker and Dot Causby; and 1 brother, Rev. John Allen.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Howard Wellmon of the home; 2 daughters, Mary Louise Kelley of Earl and Betty Joyce Jordan and husband Baxton of Shelby; 2 sisters, Maudine Terry and Julie Owle; 2 brothers, Roy Allen and wife Donnis, and Harold Allen and wife Sandy; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dianne Heffner.
