Mary Jane Darr, age 83 died Sunday August 23, 2015 at her home. Born in Cleveland County on April 10, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Jewel Owens and William Austin Beam Jr.

Mary Jane was an active lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church where she served on various committes, was a member of the handbell choir and the Wesley Sunday School class. .She was a graduate of UNC-Greensboro and UNC Chapel Hill. She was a former president of the Junior Charity League. She volunteered at Shelby middle school and was a former Fan of the Year for Shelby High School. She was a Grand Life Master with America Contract Bridge League. She volunteered for Relay for life and the American Cancer Society. She was an avid Carolina basketball and football fan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Milton Noblitt and David Darr; an infant son; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ferree and Patricia Reed.

Mary Jane is survived by four sons, Bill Noblitt and wife Martha of Shelby, Bob Noblitt and wife Cindy of California, David Noblitt and wife Kathy of Charlotte, and John Noblitt of California; a brother, Bill Beam and wife Jeri of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Kirby Crotts and husband Andy, Sally Barnett and husband Cam, William Noblitt and wife Kathryn, and Ben Noblitt; 8 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews and special friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Central United Methodist Church with Reverend Danny Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1: 00 pm until 2:30pm in the fellowship hall.
