Mary Katherine Burns Kane age 74 died Saturday August 8, 2015 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Rochester NY, on January 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Francis Joseph and Esther Ryan Burns. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in 1959. She married her beloved husband Martin Kane in August of 1962. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and the Young at Heart group. Mary was a stay at home Mom where she raised her children. She also worked for Peeler's African Violets and Triple "D" Publishing. Mary loved to cook, was an avid reader and one to never meet a stranger. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by five brothers, Joe Burns, Robert Burns, John Burns, Jerry Burns and Donald Burns; and one sister, Ann Halligan.

Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, Martin Kane; two sons, Larry Kane and wife Mary of Shelby, and Danny Kane of Gastonia and Annie Kane of Charlotte; two daughters, Marie Dexter and husband Randy of Iron Station, and Teresa Drum and husband Bryan of Shelby; a sister, Regina Bower of Albuquerque NM.; a sister-in-law, Lynn Burns of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Lauren Kane, Sean Kane, Nick Kane, Cameron Kane, Taylor Drum, Jordan Dexter, and Connor Drum; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mr. Andy Cilone officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
