Mary Ocie Newton Hartman
 Mrs. Mary Ocie Newton Hartman, 88, of 226 Lee Black Rd. in Cherryville died June 5, 2011 at home.

 

Born June 19, 1922 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Tom Newton and Mary Emma Cook Newton. Mrs. Hartman was a member of Plains View Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill Hartman, son-in-law, Bobby Whitesides, three brothers, Fred Newton, Romie Newton, and Hazel Newton, and four sisters, Pearl Hoyle, Ann Hunt, Macie Hunt, and Florence Hoyle.

 

Survivors include her husband of seventy one years, James Lloyd Hartman, three sons, Bob Hartman and wife Linda,  Glenn Hartman and wife Annette all of Shelby, Steve Hartman and wife Lucy of Cherryville, three daughters, Jean Whitesides of Waco, Mary Ellen Hartman of Cherryville, Juanita Lemberger and husband Richard of Grover, daughter-in-law, Kaye Hartman of Fallston, one sister, Vangie Towery of Morganton, twelve grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. The family extends a special thanks to Delynn Fitch and all of the Hospice staff in Cleveland County.

 

Visitation will be Monday June 6, 2011 at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston from 6:00 until 7:30PM.

 

The funeral service will be Tuesday June 7, 2011 at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00AM with the Rev. Ken Gibson officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
