Ms. Mary Ruth "Mickey" Freeman, age 82 of Johnson Street died Sunday January 20, 2013 at Wendover Hospice. Born in Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late Thomas. L. and Catherine McSwain Moss. Ms. Freeman was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a 1950 graduate of No. 3 School and attended Gardner Webb College. She enjoyed caring for others and dedicated her life to nursing, which she did for over 55 years. She retired from White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain and worked for various hospitals, including Cleveland Regional Medical Center and Kings Mountain Hospital Her example in life was taking care of others before herself. In her free time she enjoyed reading and playing with her grandson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three sisters, Elva Blanton, Hilda Webster, Jackie Hendrick; two brothers, Thomas Moss and Leland "Cotton" Moss

Ms Freeman is survived by her son, Terry Freeman and wife Judith of Earl; two brothers, James "Poozy" Moss of Shelby, and Marcus "Dem" Moss of Cherryville; two sisters-in-law, Mae Moss of Shelby, Laladge Moss of Earl; numerous nieces and nephews; and her pride and joy, grandson, Gage Freeman.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 22, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.  Memorials can be made to; Levine
