Mary Sue Thompson, age 99, died Friday June 27, 2014 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. Born in Rutherford County on May 16, 1915, she was the oldest child of the late Patience Jean and George Thompson. She graduated from Shelby High School and Gardner Webb Junior College, and worked as a secretary at First Baptist Church in Shelby for 42 years. After retiring, Mary volunteered at the Shelby Public Library, Kings Mountain Baptist Association and Hospice of Wendover. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by two brothers, George Thompson Jr. and James Robert Thompson; and  three sisters, Jean Barber, Sarah Montoya, and Ruth Roark.

Mary is survived by one nephew and seven nieces.

Graveside service will be on Monday June 30, 2014 at 11:00 am at Sunset Cemetery with Rev. Perry Holloman officiating.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Anderson and all the staff at White Oak Manor who took such excellent care of her.
