Maryland Addie Dover

Mrs. Maryland Dover, 85, joyfully joined her husband, Gene “Buck” Dover in heaven October 23, 2013.

Maryland Dover was born December 19, 1927, in Shelby, to the late Joseph Franklin and Minnie Richards Carter. An avid lover of animals, Maryland, was employed by Lilly Mill for many years and served as a tutorial aide at Elizabeth Elementary School and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her daughter, Lita Dover Smith and her husband, Marvin, of Lexington, NC; son, Dwayne Carter Dover and his wife, Heather, of Shelby, NC; daughter, Mily Dover Lusk and her husband, Dewey, of Big Stone Gap, VA; and daughter, Kibbe Dover Nixon, of Shelby, NC. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Brandon, Ryan and Charles Smith; Carter Dover, Gil and Landi Lusk, and Jeffery Nixon.

The body will remain at Clay Barnette Funeral Home from 9:30-11:00 am, Friday, October 25, 2013 for anyone who wishes to pay their respects; the family will not be present at this time.

FUNERAL: Services will be held, 1:00 pm, Friday, October 25, 2013, at Ascension Lutheran Church.

CEMETERY: An entombment will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.

CLERGY: The Revs. Dr. William Battermann and John Mocko will be officiating.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Buck Dover Golf Scholarship, Greater Cleveland County Schools Educational Foundation – 105 East Ridge Street – Kings Mountain, NC 28086 or C.A.R.E.
