Matril Lucille Hughey Bell

Blacksburg -- Matril Lucille Hughey Bell, 80, of 146 Porter Road, passed away Wednesday, September 14th, 2016, at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Joe Dean Bell and the daughter of the late Jesse Wilmon Hughey and Katie Starnes Hughey. Mrs. Bell retired from textiles and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bell is survived by one son, Randy Bell and his wife, Sharon, of Blacksburg; one daughter, Myra Bell Gilfillan and her husband, Kent, of Blacksburg; four granddaughters, Keri Gilfillan Culbertson and husband, Jordan, and Kayla Gilfillan, both of Blacksburg, Katie Bell Crawford and husband, Mike, and Tara Osment and husband, John, both of Gaffney; two great-grandsons, the apples of her eye, Samuel Gilfillan and Sawyer Culbertson; four great-granddaughters, Zoey Culbertson, Carlee Mullinax, Peyton Osment, and Paisley Osment; and one brother, Rocky Hughey and wife, Linda, of Gaffney. She has many nieces and nephews. Carolyn Hughey was like a daughter.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Woodrow Hughey, and two sisters, Gertrude and Sarah Hughey.

Mrs. Bell wanted to give special thanks to Linda Tessner, Frances Stroupe, Carolyn Hughey, Kathryn Wright, Deborah Wright, Sylvia Grigg, Libby Wright, Linda Dover, Joanne Patterson, and Linda Hughey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16th, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17th, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Nazareth Baptist Church, 1156 Ninety-nine Island Rd, Blacksburg, SC 29702 with Rev. Jerry Ford and Rev. Jamie Billings officiating. Interment will follow at Wisher Cemetery, 131 Starnes Road. Robert Bell, Larry Hughey, David Hughey, Roger Wright, Danny Ham, Mike Crawford, Jordan Culbertson, and Kelly Pursley will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the residence.
