Maunitte Whitehead Hastings
 Maunitte Whitehead Hastings, 93, of, Polkville, passed away Thursday,
November 3, 2011 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.

She was born in Green County, Georgia, on July 9, 1918, to the late James
Thomas Whitehead and Stella Mae Jackson Whitehead.  She was a member of
Polkville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Minnie
Lee Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Hastings retired from Cleveland County
Schools Food Services after 34 years of service.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Perlie
Leon Hastings; four brothers, Hugh Whitehead and wife Elsie, Virgil
Whitehead and wife Virginia, Bobby Whitehead and wife Helen, and Charles
Whitehead; and three sisters, Ruby "Sis" Whitehead, Marie Whitehead Combs;
and Teresa Whitehead.

Mrs. Hastings is survived by her daughter, Pearleen Hastings and husband
Larry of Polkville, sister, Florence W. Ragan and husband John E. Ragan, Jr.
of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Myrtle Whitehead, Kannapolis; special friends,
Ellen Cook, Mary Whisnant, Peggy Holtzclaw, Ruth Proctor Lytle, Jean Cook
Pittman, and Shirley Benton; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Saturday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
