Mavis Bright Bridges, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born on Tuesday, December 29, 1925 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Charles Bright and Donia Guffey Bright. She was a homemaker and worked as a caregiver for many years. Mavis enjoyed yard work, gardening and reading. She also took pleasure in researching her family's history and genealogy. Mavis was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and an adjunct member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don H. Bridges; three brothers, Walter, Venoy and Leroy Bright and sister, Ruth Haulk.
Survivors include one son, Donald L. Bridges and wife, Lucille of Forest City; brother, Charles Bright of Rutherfordton; sister, Joann Hodge of Ellenboro; two grandchildren, Tracy Chapman and husband, Steve of Forest City and Shannon Shuford and husband, Chris of Belmont, NC; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Shuford and Preston Shuford.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Crestview Baptist Church Chapel with Reverend Kevin Rohm, Reverend Bob Philbeck and Reverend Phillip Bland officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the church chapel. At other times the family will be gathered at 294 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City.
